Community Relations

The Dallas section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers is involved in community relations via a committee to help educate the public and students in the school system with respect to energy and careers in the petroleum industry.  We have a committee who enjoy visiting local schools to discuss and teach students and teachers about energy and future careers in the petroleum industry.  Letters are sent out to local science teachers and career counselors letting them know we are available, but additional word of mouth promotion is always appreciated.  Presently we do not feel enough students are looking into careers in engineering especially petroleum engineering.

Please contact one of the members below if you would like to join the committee or if you are aware of a school or civic group that would like someone to speak about energy or careers in the petroleum industry.

If you know of plans for career days or students that would like to hear about careers in energy, please keep us in mind or pass this on to others.

Energy4me is an SPE resource on energy education where members have access to ready to go presentations.  These are classroom presentations which are applicable to both schools and civic organizations.
